When you couple up your trailer or caravan to your vehicle, you need to feel confident that the towbar has been fitted
correctly and that all the electrics will work. If you have your towbar fitted by us, you can be sure that is what you will be.
When asking for quotes, please be sure to ask the following questions:-
Do you have
•
Public and Product liability insurance?
•
Fully equipped workshops where the work will be carried out?
Do you use
•
Vehicle Specific kits or smart bypass relays where appropriate?
•
Towbars from the leading manufacturers?
Are you
•
Quality Secured Accredited members of the NTTA with fully trained towbar fitters?
Do you
•
Give a written warranty and provide spare fuses where appropriate?
Please bear this in mind when comparing quotes as we can answer yes to all these questions. Many mobile fitters do not
have liability insurance, cut corners with the electrical installation, and are hard to contact when you have a problem.
Which towbar is right for you?
You have a choice of different styles of towbar which may be a bit confusing. We list the main types and
their advantages and disadvantages below to help you make the right choice.
Bolt on Flange Ball
The bolt on flange ball is still the
most popular style of towbar in the
UK. Competively priced but
allowing maximum flexibility for
fitting accessories.
Advantages:-

Allows you to fit a bumper
guard.
•
Can carry bikes and tow at
the same time
•
Can use traditional leaf
spring stabiliser.
Disadvantages:-
•
Can affect reversing
sensors
•
Not as neat as swan necks
Fixed Swan Neck Ball
The swan neck whilst popular on the
continent, has never been popular in
the UK. Neater fitting than the flange
ball but does not allow easy fitting of
accessories.

Less likely to affect reversing
sensors.

stabilisers.

the same time (except
MaxxRaxx carrier)

(often invisible when not
attached).
